What no one tells you about hosting is that when the music stops, you’ll somehow feel more behind on your obligations than ever before and face what feels like an insurmountable battle back to normalcy??

I just can’t seem to get ahead this week – or even maintain for that matter after last weekend’s soirée. Laundry. Cleaning. Work. Personal things. Taxes. Additionally, the subtasks within these tasks are being buried by exhaustion with each day that passes. Don’t get me wrong – it was totally worth it. I’m just tired.

With all of this said, I’m simultaneously feeling super inspired and excited about a number of things, which is (partially) quelling the stress:

Brandon got me a clothing rack for my birthday! Plus clothes and fashion in general. This Substack. I’ve got so many outfit ideas percolating and can’t wait to use this clothing rack to make fun edits and clarify my vision when getting dressed.
I got a new, big client this week! Kick-off meeting happening tomorrow.
Honestly, just my friends and family. My birthday party was just another reminder of how genuinely lucky and grateful I am to be surrounded by loving, kind and supportive people. I could cry.

I bought this suede jacket secondhand from Shop Penny and it’s fabulous. Perfect for the unpredictable spring weather. Lightweight but also structured, which provides the sculpture effect I need in every outfit.

The weather was chilly. I had errands to run but I wanted to be comfortable and look put together. This slouchy, leather stunner is from one of my fav consignment stores in Birmingham, d’trespa. It’s good.

Shoot day! I shoot social media content for my interior design client every two weeks and these days typically consist of me schlepping products, standing in the weirdest stances to get good shots and being sweaty. But I also want to feel cool and look creative!

My birthday! Got dressed up to go to my favorite wine bar with friends. I’ve been LOVING tonal looks, so this springy yellow number felt right. These tibi satin pull-on pants were the star. 🌟

Garden party day! I always struggle with ‘dressy’ outfits. I think it’s because those occasions tend to demand more feminine ensembles, and my style is very masculine. Incorporating femininity into my outfits can feel forced, but I’m committed to finding a solution to this challenge! More to come on this conundrum in a future newsletter.
