There’s a quiet power in women who wear only (or even mostly) black. I used to admire this chic look from a distance but as I continue on this sojourn into my 30s, I think I’m starting to finally earn my fashion girlie wings.

Black, navy and white are my grounding forces when getting dressed. This is a somewhat recent realization that also coincided with chopping my hair off again. The recipe for being chic, obviously.

*take a shot every time i say chic in this TCC :’)*

Black is the absence of color – creating room for the creation of possibility. The darkest of dark reveals contrast with the world around us. Contrast creates definition. This finality connotes strength.

All-black outfits communicate a sense of strength and confidence that so perfectly emulates the wisdom women gain as they age.

I’m 31. With every passing day, I feel more self assured and more grounded than ever. I’m confident in my values. I worry less about the opinions of others. I respect people more. I extend grace in hard situations. And I feel excited about the future – all of the wondrous world I have yet to see and experience. All of the wisdom I have yet to gain.

Maybe sporting black as a style cornerstone creates a clear path for self-discovery.

Black is a symbol of power and confidence. It’s demanding of attention and respect. It unifies. It embraces art. It’s everything and simultaneously nothing.

There’s so much uncertainty in this life and wearing an all black outfit is one of the few without-fails we have. Wear an all-black outfit, and you’re irrefutably stylish regardless of anything else.

The act of doing this evokes an inner steadiness that inspires the world around us. An assuredness we can use to forge good.

But if nothing else, at least we’ll be stylish.
